A model railway exhibition with 17 Layouts, 12 other Traders, Society’s and Demonstrators.

To be held at the Cotgrave Welfare, Woodview, Cotgrave, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK, NG12 3PJ.

Admission is £7-
Disabled visitors / wheel chair users can have a reduced admission charge as some of the exhibition is only accessible via steps.

1 Oliver Hill HO Liam Butler
Oliver Hill is a fictional modern image switching layout set on the Ashland Subdivision in Wisconsin USA, during fall (Autumn).
Both Canadian National and CPKC serve the line between Ashland and New Lisbon, with Oliver Hill being a small industrial spur off this line.
2 Barnwood N Andrew Fardell
Set in the 1990’s, Barnwood is a fictional location in Northwest England on a loop off the West Coast mainline between Preston and Lancaster.
It is on the coast with a small port with regular connections to the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland.
7 Hawton Road OO Tomas Tomblin
A fictional location set in the 1990’s.
8 Cumanavago OO BMRC
A layout based on “Tomas” so that children can become an engine driver with a certificate to prove it!
9 Little Fettling OO BMRC
A fictional preserved railway.
10 Kettlewell N Alan Walker & Geraldine Steele
Fully scenic layout of a fictional station, passing loop and goods yard.
12 Electric Tramway OO Ivanhoe MRS
Demonstrating the different methods of electric current collection by tram cars.
13 Hathern Mannor N Syston MRS
Depicting a small fictional village with a complex railway system. Featuring two railway stations and a rail freight yard operated by a private company.
16 St Mary’s O-
St Mary’s is 7mm narrow gauge, also known as NG7.
The layout depicts a British light railway in the 1950’s and is seen on a bright midsummer’s day. Arriving trains may drop off or collect goods wagons so “mixed trains” are common. Steam locomotives will refill their tanks from the water tower before they recouple to their train.
Feel free to ask any questions and have a ‘peep’ into the fiddle yard!
17 Bregenbach N Les Richardson
‘Bregenbach im Schwarzwald’ is a small wayside halt on a private secondary line through the Black Forest. The halt exists to serve a small brewery and is almost at the summit of the line.
There was an actual railway (the Bregtalbahn) which ran from Donaueschingen to Furtwangen.
The fictional history is that the line was extended over the hill from Furtwangen
and down the Glottertal to Freiburg in Breisgau. Managing to remain open after World
War II it was used as a ‘guinea pig’ for electrification, getting the job done on
the cheap. Stock was generally DB cast-
Set in the present day, trains are short due to the 1 in 25 ruling gradient, which
is less steep than the real-
The layout is DCC controlled using NCE Power Cabs. Locos run with their pantographs touching the overhead wires and the line is fully signalled according to German practice.
21 Abbott Darcy OO Steven Harrison
Abbott Darcy is a small micro layout designed to fit on book shelves.
Set in the present day, it depicts a heritage line holding their first Santa Special.
22 Sutton Junction N Derek Gelsthorpe
23 Drinkallby West OO Steve Cooper
Depicts a small engine shed to the West of Drinkallby station and RAF Manby nearby. The normally quiet shed is experiencing unprecedented traffic.
24 Hazelby Ballast Loader N Gareth Harbottle
Post TOPS BR Blue through to Sectorisation.
Hazelby Ballast Loader is a fictional location whose main feature is a working ballast loader which dispenses ballast into empty wagons. The loader is open fronted enabling the loading process to be seen from the scenic side of the layout.
The rest of the layout consists of a double track on a curved embankment, a dismantled junction which has become a footpath and a small river. There is also a yard for the BR maintenance department.
25 Porth Llechen Kim Dowden
26 Kirkby 38F James Cullen
A might have been if the Great Central Railway had arrived in Kirkby before the Midland Railway in 1903. Based on similar design of two road GCR shed, it maintains locomotives to service Summit and other collieries in the area in the GCR & LNER periods.
28 Rennock Tim & Matt Stevens
A small lat depicting part of a fictitious station in the Glasgow suburbs during
the “BR Blue” era. Traffic consists of suburban Diesel Multiple Units (DMU’s) and
other local passenger trains, plus freight, and light engine movements. Track is

Tony Wright Loco Clinic
Tony will be sharing his wealth of model making experience concerning construction and maintenance of model railway items. Tony can often help with troublesome locomotives to get them going.
Cardboard Works John Fownes
John can be described as a master of making 0'Gauge models from Cardboard.
While some of the smaller detail parts are whitemetal or resin castings, John has been known to cast his own details, and to even make his own wheels, also from cardboard.

The MERG (Model Electronic Railway Group) Club exist to promote the use of electronics and computer technology in model railways. The club actively promotes there own electronic kits that can be used in the control of a Model Railway.
